Jepang Terbitkan Undang-undang untuk menekan Karyawan untuk Berlibur
Harian Yomiuri Shimbun mengabarkan, para karyawan di Jepang sangat "malas" untuk mengambil cuti. Sepanjang 2013, mereka hanya mengambil kurang dari separuh jatah cuti. Dengan peraturan baru ini, Pemerintah Jepang berharap bisa meningkatkan angka liburan para karyawan hingga 70 persen pada 2020.
Namun, hampir dua pertiga karyawan di Jepang ternyata enggan mengambil jatah cuti karena mereka merasa sungkan dengan para rekan kerjanya. Menurut hasil studi Institut Pelatihan Kebijakan Tenaga Kerja Jepang, lebih dari separuh karyawan di negeri itu mengatakan bahwa mereka tak sempat berlibur karena beban kerja yang terlalu banyak.
Para karyawan itu juga mengatakan, mereka yang mengambil cuti pada masa kesulitan ekonomi seperti saat ini berisiko dianggap sebagai seseorang yang tak memiliki komitmen. Alhasil, kasus-kasus karoshi atau meninggal dunia karena bekerja terlalu keras kini menimpa semua lapisan karyawan, mulai dari yang berusia tua hingga muda.
Saat ini, para karyawan di Jepang memiliki hak 10 hari cuti setahun. Jumlah hari cuti itu bertambah sehari setiap tahun hingga mencapai angka maksimal, yaitu 20 hari setahun. Undang-undang baru itu setelah diberlakukan akhir Januari nanti diharap bisa membuat pihak pengelola perusahaan memastikan karyawan mereka mengambil jatah cuti tahunan.
Pemerintah Jepang mengatakan, undang-undang baru itu dibuat untuk mencegah beban kerja yang terlalu banyak dan memungkinkan para karyawan memiliki keseimbangan dalam kehidupan serta pekerjaan.

In times of uncertain economic growth, many Japanese companies are asking their employees to work harder. Many young employees have to work overtime for more than 100 hours for one month.
However, almost two-thirds of employees in Japan were reluctant to take a leave of absence because they felt uncomfortable with their colleagues. According to the results of a study by the Japanese Labor Policy Policy Training Institute, more than half of the employees in the country said that they had no time to vacation because of too much workload.
The employees also said that those who took time off during times of economic hardship like at this time were at risk considered as someone who did not have commitment. As a result, cases of karoshi or death due to overwork are now happening to all layers of employees, ranging from the old to the young.
At present, employees in Japan have the right to 10 days off a year. The number of days off increases every day every year to reach the maximum number, which is 20 days a year. The new law, after being implemented at the end of January, is expected to make the company management ensure that their employees take annual leave.
The Japanese government said the new law was designed to prevent too much workload and allow employees to have a balance in life and work.
